Just before lunch, at 11:34, Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a three vehicle collision at 8th Street and Cumberland Avenue. Two Engines and one Rescue Unit responded.
The first Engine arrived on scene in less than four minutes. The crew ensured a safe work area due to high traffic flowing by the scene. As soon as it was verified there were not any trapped or severely injured occupants, the second Engine and Rescue Unit downgraded their response while enroute, so traffic flow was not unnecessarily disrupted.
Just after 08:00 this morning, Saskatoon Fire Department dispatched one Engine, one Rescue Unit, and a Battalion Chief to a reported collision between a passenger vehicle and a forklift. The accident happened on Boychuk Drive and Slimmons Road.
At approximately 10:21 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, the Saskatoon Fire Department dispatched one fire engine from Fire Station No. 6 to a report of a middle-aged female experiencing chest pain.
While traveling with its emergency equipment activated, the fire engine was involved in a side impact motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Grosvenor Avenue and 8th Street East. The commanding fire officer immediately requested the dispatch of a secondary fire engine to respond to the initial emergency medical incident.
At approximately 11:37 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019, the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls alerting to a possible residential structure fire at 519 Bayfield Crescent in the Briarwood neighbourhood; it was reported to fire dispatchers that smoke was visibly exiting from the rear of the structure.
The Saskatoon Fire Department is pleased to recognize Mr. Dave Hume, a civilian whose instinctive actions and proactive training resulted in a remarkable and positive outcome to an emergency cardiac event.
The City of Saskatoon operates several storm water retention ponds in neighbourhoods throughout the City. Many residents choose to use these ponds for recreational purposes, including skating and ice hockey. It is reminded that individuals who choose to use the storm water retention ponds for recreational purposes assume all associated risk in doing so.
At Approximately 12:15, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a report of a garage fire. Four Engine Companies, one Ladder Company and one Battalion chief responded.
On arrival, the detached garage was fully involved.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 min. Crews then checked for extention to the home and worked on remaining hot spots.
A Fire Investigator was called to the scene. A cause and damage estimate has not yet been given. There were no reported injuries
Just before 4 am this morning, The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle accident on 22nd St. West & Bowlt Cres.. One engine company and a rescue unit were dispatched to a vehicle that left the road and hit a concrete pillar. The Jaws of Life and Rescue cutters were used to remove the doors to extricate four patients from the vehicle. All patients were transported to hospital.
Cause of the accident is still under investigation and condition of patients is unknown at this time..
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to it's third garage fire around 1:50 am behind 2607 Irvine Ave. Three engine companies, a ladder truck, a rescue unit, and a Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene.
The first arriving apparatus noticed heavy smoke and flames coming from a rear garage on the property. The crew made an aggressive interior attack followed up by a second backup crew. They had the fire under control and extinguished within 15 minutes. Crews made sure there were no further extension.
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a second garage fire at 10:30 pm behind 428 Ave E South, just fifteen minutes following another. Three engine companies, a ladder truck, and a rescue unit were also dispatched.
On arrival the first in crew noticed light smoke coming from the garage. The initial attack crew had the small fire under control and extinguished quickly.
There was very minimal damage and no injuries.
This fire is also suspicious and is under investigation. There is no damage estimate at this time.
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a report of a garage on fire behind 207 Ave. W South at approximately 10:15 pm this evening. Three Engine companies, a Ladder truck. a Rescue unit, and a Battalion Chief were dispatched.
On arrival the first crew reported heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the garage. Crews started an aggressive offensive attack and gained entry into the garage through a side door to extinguish the fire. It was brought under control within 10 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Today, the Saskatoon Fire Department is proud to welcome five new firefighter-paramedics to begin serving the residents and visitors of Saskatoon and surrounding area.

At approximately 9:58 this morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a witnessed collision between a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger truck at the intersection of Faithfull Avenue and 60th Street East. Callers had reported to fire dispatchers that the driver and lone occupant of the passenger truck remained trapped inside the vehicle.
Two fire engines, one rescue unit, and one battalion chief were dispatched for immediate response.
At approximately 4:15 pm Monday Nov. 18, 2019 The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a possible house fire in the 600 block of Ave F. N. Three engines, one aerial, one heavy rescue and one battalion chief responded to the structure fire. Fire crews arrived and found a fire in a back room of a the home and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire in seven minutes. The home was search for any occupants but the home was vacant. The fire created heavy smoke in the house, crews ventilated the home.
The Saskatoon Fire Department responded a report of a fire in a duplex at 1819 ave D north, at approximately 2:33 pm today. Three Engine companies, one Ladder truck, one Rescue truck and a Battalion Chief were dispatched.
