Friday night’s snowfall covered Saskatoon with approximately 7 centimetres of snow. City crews have worked through the night clearing snow on Priority 1 streets such as Circle Drive, 22nd Street, Idylwyld Drive, College Drive and 8th Street. Grading continues on the remaining Priority street network.

The extreme cold, combined with this new moisture may cause icing on bridge decks, freeway ramps, overpasses and high-traffic intersections. Crews are sanding; however, salt is not effective at these low temperatures and sand is not sticking to the road.

The City of Saskatoon Corridor Transformation Plan aims to re-imagine the major transportation corridors that currently serve to move traffic from one place to another and turn them into vibrant, connected neighbourhoods that fit holistically into the city of the future. On January 13, the Administration will present options for requirements for recycling and organics for the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) sector to the Standing Policy Committee of Environment, Utilities, and Corporate Services. Implementing this approach will involve an amendment to the Waste Bylaw (No. 8310).
