The City’s summer youth centres open for the season on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  All youth, ages 12 to 16, are invited to drop in for sports and games, listen to music, participate in special events, or hang out with friends in a friendly environment supervised by fun, qualified leaders.

Youth centres are free to attend.  Unless otherwise stated, hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. until August 16, 2019 (closed Monday, August 5, 2019).

The City’s 47 summer playground programs will be starting on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  A list of locations are available on the Where to Play interactive map at saskatoon.ca/play.

Designed for 2 to 12 year olds, these free drop-in programs include water play, sports, crafts, games, music and much more.  Playground programs operate rain or shine, Mondays to Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. through to Friday, August 23, 2019.

There will be no access to the area during this work which is expected to take five hours to complete weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

City Council has directed the Administration not to accelerate the Solair Neighbourhood project into the Holmwood Suburban Development Area.

Currently the proposed development lands are mostly outside Saskatoon City Limits and not in the development stream for any immediate city development.

Angela Gardiner, General Manager of Transportation and Construction, says the Civic Administration works hard to support developers and to create a business-friendly community.

The City of Saskatoon reminds property owners that your 2019 Property Tax payment is due this Sunday, June 30, 2019, and that City Hall is not open on the weekend. 

Please note: The Payment Drop Box located outside of the main doors of City Hall will be open on the weekend to deposit cheques.

Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre undergoes regular maintenance to ensure the safety and enjoyment of its patrons.  This year the leisure pool, hot tubs, and sauna will be closed from July 1 to August 25, 2019.  

The fitness room and competitive pool will remain open during this time. Visit www.saskatoon.ca/dropinonline for public swim, lane swim and aquatic fitness class times.

Starting today, Victoria Bridge will be closed for the Pride Festival. The bridge will reopen Saturday, June 22 after 9:00 p.m.
Saskatoon Transit will have minor route changes during the Pride Festival. Transit service alerts, real-time bus locations, and arrivals are available on third party apps like Transit and Google Transit on desktop.

The 2020 municipal/school boards’ elections will be held in fall 2020 and early planning is already underway. This includes reviewing the ten wards in Saskatoon to ensure each has equal population representation in each according to The Cities Act.

New boundaries are now required for four ward boundaries (Wards 5, 7, 8 and 10) and the proposed changes could also affect the boundaries of other wards. The Community Association you belong to, or the City Councillor you've had to-date could change - we know this is important to residents.

Everyone is invited to Kinsmen Day at the Zoo on Friday, June 21, 2019.  Free admission to the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo (Zoo) will be provided from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Please note that parking, stroller, wagon and fishing fees will still apply.

In lieu of admission, visitors are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to benefit the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.  Representatives from the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer questions.

This summer, the track and field surface will be replaced and the lobby will be upgraded.  For the renovations to take place, the facility will close on Monday, June 17 and is expected to re-open in mid-September.  All programs will be cancelled during this time.

Avalon Dog Park will be closed from 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 17 through to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 to finalize Phase 2 of the park’s 2.6 acre expansion. This closure will allow crews to complete pathway connections and remove temporary fencing.

Phases 1 and 2 of Avalon Dog Park will be open to the public for off-leash recreational activity starting at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.

During the closure at Avalon Dog Park, users can continue to enjoy Dog Park access at the following 10 parks:
