The City is hosting a free public art walking tour in conjunction with Culture Days and the Creative City Network of Canada Summit on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at 1:30 p.m.

Take a walk through the evolution of public art in Saskatoon from the City’s first commission, 1959’s controversial Robert Murray modernist sculpture, through the ubiquitous period of statuary bronzes to the large scale murals of today by artists such as Emannuel Jarus. Led by curator Dr. Jen Budney, this tour will reflect on:

108th Street, from Bryans Avenue to Circle Drive northbound exit ramp, will be closed for road resurfacing starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30.

3rd Avenue North will be closed at 33rd Street starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28. CN Rail and CP Rail will be working on upgrades to the railway. The work is expected to take two days to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The City of Saskatoon, together with Reconciliation Saskatoon is proud to support Orange Shirt Day on September 30. The day aims to raise awareness of the devastating impact of the Indian residential school system on Indigenous people, their families and the social fabric of the community, and supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action #80.

As fall sets in and the leaves hit the ground, residents are reminded to properly dispose of their fallen leaves and other yard waste, preventing them from blowing onto boulevards and sidewalks and collecting in gutters which can cause flooding in the spring. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain sidewalks and boulevards adjacent to their property; pushing or blowing leaves onto the street is not allowed.

The Saskatoon Municipal Wards Commission continues to seek additional insight and information from residents of Saskatoon as the Commission looks to realign new ward boundaries in preparation for the municipal and school board elections in fall 2020.

Shaw Centre opened its doors to the public on September 26, 2009 and is one of six Leisure Centres operated by the City. To celebrate Shaw’s 10th anniversary, the public is invited to attend the ‘10 Days of Shaw’, running September 26 – October 5, 2019, which includes 10 days of prize giveaways, fitness demonstrations and discounts for the public. On Saturday, October 5, the public is invited to join staff and special guests for birthday treats in the lobby at 1:00 p.m. and the facility will be offering a celebratory family admission rate of $10.
