Contractors will begin installing a watermain at the intersection of Neault Road (Dalmeny Grid), Elk Point Road and 33rd Street Wednesday morning. While this 2 week project is underway, there will be no access between Neault/Elk Point Roads and 33rd Street.

33rd Street will be closed between Neault Road and the Kensington Road roundabout. Traffic heading into the city from Highways 14 and 7 will also be impacted by this construction work.

This fall, Lions Arena (2205 McEown Avenue) underwent facility upgrades, including a new ice plant and supporting mechanical and electrical equipment.  The facility is now ready for the 2018/2019 season and is scheduled to open as follows:

  • Tuesday, October 23 – first day of ice time for user groups;
  • Sunday, October 28 – first day of public skating; and
  • Tuesday, November 6 – first day of parent and tot skating.

Near perfect weather through this year’s Building Better Roads program led to the completion of more projects. Twice as much preventative crack sealing was applied to roadways, twenty percent more sidewalks were replaced than originally projected, and a total of 206 lane kilometres of roadways were replaced or rehabilitated. Construction will continue until it snows or gets too cold.

Queen Street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues, will be fully closed for water and sewer connection repairs starting Wednesday, October 17. Work will begin before 7:00 am and is expected to take 3 days to complete. Please note road closure and sidewalk restrictions as marked. Road users can use 26th Street or King Street to navigate around the construction zone.

Starting tomorrow, October 16 (subject to weather), the bus stops at Attridge and Rever will be relocated (map) for approximately 4 days to allow for extensive connectivity improvements including:

  • Sidewalks
  • Concrete shelter landing pads
  • Pedestrian ramps
  • Wayfinding information
  • Shelter installation

Sidewalk and traffic restrictions will be in place around this construction zone for the duration of the project.

The McOrmond Drive and College Drive interchange will open to traffic on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, alleviating congestion on priority roads that have become busier as the city continues to grow.

“Once open, traffic at the McOrmond Drive and College Drive intersection will be free flowing with all interchange ramps operational,” says Bryan Zerebeski, the City’s manager for the Saskatoon Interchange Project. “Due to a wet September, some work surrounding the interchange will now resume in the spring.”
