Summer hours now in effect!

The Landfill is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week.


The City’s Landfill is located off Valley Road, south of 11th Street.

Hours of operation

  • The Landfill's summer hours are now in effect: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • The Landfill is open seven days a week, year-round, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
  • Weekends are busy at the Landfill, especially after 9:30 a.m. Arrive early and avoid line-ups.
  • Please bring along help if required to unload your material. For their protection and safety, Landfill staff are instructed to avoid lifting or handling items from personal vehicles. 

Rates and Fees

The Landfill entrance fee is $15 per vehicle per visit. Debit, cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted. In addition to the entrance fee, the following additional charges are based upon weight or type of waste being disposed (+ $15 entry fee unless noted):

$130/tonne - minimum charge of $275/load (+ $15 entry fee)

CFC White Goods (including but not limited to fridges, A/C's and freezers)          

$20 each plus any applicable weight fee (+ $15 entry fee)


Unacceptable items
  • Non-vehicle batteries, including laptop batteries
  • Cattle remains
  • Asbestos - See Asbestos Awareness
  • Railway ties
  • Compressed gases
  • Slaughterhouse waste
  • Liquids of any type including paint, solvent, fuel
  • Hazardous substances and waste
  • Dangerous goods
  • Tires
  • Explosives
  • Infectious waste
  • Radioactive materials

Clean Fill Approval

Clean Soil

The landfill accepts clean soil, also called clean fill, free of charge. There is an approval process for acceptance of clean soil at the landfill.

Clean soil cannot be mixed with:

  • Wood
  • Stumps
  • Branches
  • Concrete
  • Asphalt
  • Metal parts and pieces
  • Plastics
  • Ceramics and masonry materials
  • Rocks greater than four (4) inches in diameter
  • Refuse and garbage
  • Chemical substances that are regulated by the Provincial Ministry of Environment (these include petroleum hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons such as tetra & tri-chloroethylene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, PCBs, heavy metals, and chlorides).

Approval Process for Clean Soil

  1. When is approval required?
    a.Soil deliveries originating from a single property that will exceed one load per day must be pre-approved.
    b.Single loads from residential sites or loads from private citizens are exempt from the process.
  1. If you will have less than 10 loads per day from a single site, call the Soils Engineer at 306- 975-2487 for confirmation that the soil is acceptable at the landfill.
    a. If the soil contains or has the potential to contain non-natural chemical substances, the soil must be tested to determine the concentration of that type of substance. See the application form for details.
  2. If you have more than 10 loads per day from a single site, complete the application form and send it to for processing.
    a. All applicants will be required to have a landfill business account number that will be used to track soil deliveries.
    i.If the total soil quantity from a single source site will exceed 1000 tonnes (1600 m3), a unique project number will be required; haulers will not be able to use their business account number.
    ii. Call 306-975-2486 to request an account number.
    b. If the soil contains or has the potential to contain non-natural chemical substances, the soil must be tested to determine the concentration of that type of substance. See the application form for details.
    c. Allow a minimum of two business days for application process.
  3. Successful applicants will be issued tracking and disposal tickets that must be used with each load that is delivered to the landfill. Every load must report to the landfill scale.

Landfill staff reserve the right to refuse any soil or to impose charges if the soil is not clean

Eco Centre

If you have items for the Eco Centre at the Landfill, please let the Scale Attendant know when you enter. If your load is not properly identified, general tipping fees will apply. You can recycle:

  • Used engine oil, oil filters, oil containers and antifreeze (limit of 500 litres) - no charge.  Oil and antifreeze must be in original containers (liquids in household containers such as milk jugs cannot be accepted).
  • Newspapers and magazines - general tipping fees still apply.
  • Old appliances, vehicle batteries, propane tanks, and scrap metal are accepted and recycled - general tipping fees still apply.

Recovery Park

Recovery Park will be a one-stop recycling and waste facility.  It will be located at the Saskatoon landfill to provide waste diversion opportunities for recyclables, hazardouse waste, food and yard waste, construction waste and others.
